Farm to Scanner

In 2001 artist Ranjit Bhatnagar bought his first scanner, and on a whim, rather than using it on documents, scanned the fruits and vegetables he’d just brought home from the Brooklyn Greenmarket. His love of the oddest and most misshapen veggies combined with this technique of lensless photography generated a series of nearly 900 (and counting) unique and gorgeous images! The scans have appeared in publications like Edible Brooklyn and Utne Reader, and were exhibited at the Brooklyn Public Library’s Central Branch in 2011.

You can see all of the nearly 900 scans at farmtoscanner.com/archive. Please email us at hello@farmtoscanner.com if you see a scan from the archives that you’d like to see featured in the store!
