I make for my own sake and I hope to share and inspire others with my works and by inspired in turn. I work and live in Columbus, Ohio and I have been doing collage work regularly since 2015. I began cutting into a magazine one day for fun and stumbled on a process which would develop into my main outlet for creative expression, at least for now. Rather than pulling pages out and cutting shapes to create a traditional collage I have become fascinated with dissection a magazine as it is. By leaving it bound together and using the pages as they are arranged I am limited by the content of the magazine but it unlocks a whole other world of potential I would not discover without these limitations. When I first began this process I would usually start from the front or back of a magazine but I often find a random starting image which intrigues me. Each piece is an experiment which may fail and many do. Finding parts that line up and strange combinations of features and colors is always exciting to me. I do not have to spend time developing the content of these works because the magazine is so content rich that I can simply rearrange things till I have created a new image from selected fragments. Im not trying to sound too lofty about all this for it is fairly simply in its essence but the end result is always a surprise. I hope you enjoy my work and please let me know what you think. Thank you! ---Jamie
